Tour to Karlovy Vary

Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad in German) is the west located city in the Czech Republic, best known as a spa resort. There are 17 hot underground streams, which boils under the ground, having so much pressure to spurt into many meters up to the ground. They are extremely mineralized and having therapeutic effects. Their temperature is from 30C to 72C (86F – 162F).  Its history started in the 13th century, when the city was established by the Czech king Charles IV. The legend says: One day, the Czech king Charles IV went hunting to the dark forest and startled a deer, which stated to run away. The Czech king followed him until the deer got to the top of the hill, where was nowhere go on, perhaps  there was a water under the hill and the deer had on other option just to jump in unless not to be caught. However, the water was hot so the deer boiled itself. The king saw it all up from the hill and realized that the water was hot and established the spa town on that place, carrying his name (Karel means Charles and Vary means “boiling”).

Nowadays, Karlovy Vary is a relaxing town having about 50.000 inhabitants, visited by 1000.000s tourists every year. The wonderful Boulevard with historical buildings where people taste the healing hot stream, eating hot wafers make the visitor very relaxed and gives strength to face the stress around.
Last but not least, famous tourist place “Jelení skok” (the place, where the deer jumped to the hot water as the legend says) or Becherovka excursion (plant, where the Czech original herbal spirit is made) worth to visit.
